Exhibition focusing on historic effort that saved thousands of young lives on view at American Swedish Institute
Kindertransport – Rescuing Children on the Brink of War.
MINNEAPOLIS, MN
.- Kindertransport – Rescuing Children on the Brink of War, a major exhibition on view July 22–October 31, 2021, at the American Swedish Institute in Minneapolis, illuminates the story of the Kindertransport (German for “Children’s Transport”). This astonishingly successful rescue effort brought about 10,000 Jewish children from Nazi Germany to Great Britain and other countries, including Sweden, between 1938 and 1939.
The exhibition explores the children’s difficult and often heartbreaking journeys through original artifacts, audio testimonies and moving personal stories. The regional debut of this exhibition is accompanied by The Story is Here, developed by ASI, which features the experiences of Midwest families impacted by the Kindertransport. ....

Biographical Highlights
After receiving her undergraduate degree at Linfield College, Dr. Oda conducted research at a biotech company in Oregon, with a focus on treating diabetes in a mouse model. She completed her doctorate under the guidance of Raul Torres, PhD, at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus and National Jewish Health, where she described new immune-based pathways to control tumor progression in mice. Dr. Oda worked as a postdoctoral fellow and Research Associate in the lab of Philip Greenberg, MD, recipient ....

Founders of health and biotech unicorns are older on average, Ali Tamaseb said.
The notion of the teenage and twenty-something technology entrepreneur looms large. In reality, the most successful companies are more commonly founded by people in their 30s or older. Among startups valued at $1 billion or more created over the last 15 years, the median age of the founders when starting their businesses was 34, according to research in a new book called Super Founders: What Data Reveals About Billion-Dollar Startups.
The finding offers new evidence that leaders with some experience bring advantages, said Ali Tamaseb, the author and a partner at the venture capital firm DCVC. There are, indeed, many successful billion-dollar startup founders in their early twenties, Tamaseb wrote in the book, but most of them aren t. His takeaway: Age doesn t matter. ....
