In a statement released on Tuesday, May 4, VTS head Brother Clifford Sorita said across age groups, these concerns vary.
“Results would similarly reveal that different age group would have different concerns while attending the Mass. Philippine Church decries government lifting ban on mining

Philippine Church decries government lifting ban on mining
Caritas Philippines and several bishops are decrying the lifting of the moratorium on mining in the country, saying it will have a “devastating effect on marginalized communities”.

Duterte signed an Executive Order on April 14, lifting a 9-year moratorium on new mining deals imposed in 2012 by former President Benigno Aquino III, who called on government authorities to check and renegotiate contracts with mining firms in cases of environmental abuse. Aquino’s moratorium also provided a respite to the environment to regenerate its depleting flora and fauna. ....

Carvajal: The other quincentennial

SunStar
April 20, 2021
Martin Luther’s Reformation started when he nailed his 96 Theses to the door of the Wittenberg Castle Church on Oct. 31, 1517, but he was not excommunicated by Pope Leo X until 1520 and declared a “notorious heretic” by Holy Roman Emperor Charles V until 1521, the year historians mark as the start of Luther’s schism from the Catholic Church.
That makes 2021 the quincentennial of the Protestant Reformation. Rome officially disagrees with Luther, but it cannot be denied that the gist of his 96 Theses has enriched Christian thought and practice. There is more freedom of thought, of conscience, in Protestantism and this has allowed for the full play of man’s creativity in both the interpretation and practice of Christ’s teachings. ....
