Undersecretary for Solid Waste Management and Local Government Units Concerns Benny D. Antiporda on Saturday, June 26, urged Filipinos to take part in clean-up drives initiated for the country’s oceans to protect marine resources from the growing problem of marine pollution.

THE Philippine National Police Maritime Group-Central Visayas saved a 28-year-old woman who jumped off the Marcelo Fernan Bridge Monday morning, May 10, 2021.
In an interview with Superbalita Cebu, Police Executive Master Sergeant Noel Rogelio Avenido said that footage of the closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera shows the woman walking. When she reached the middle of the bridge, she suddenly jumped off.
He said the staff watching the CCTV footage even heard the impact the woman made when she hit the water.
They contacted a fisherman fishing under the bridge to first respond and go to the area where the woman fell because they were still preparing their rubber boat. When the police arrived, they transferred the woman from the fisherman’s boat to theirs. ....
