Stray bullet pierces Bishop Hartley gym as students took test

Students at Bishop Hartley High School were taking a test Tuesday morning when a stray gunshot was fired into the building.
Columbus police were called around 9:26 a.m. to the school at 1285 Zettler Rd. on the city s East Side.
The bullet had pierced the building s wall around 8:49 a.m. and struck a metal beam inside the gymnasium on the northwest corner of the school grounds where about 59 students were taking a test. Two teachers were also in the gymnasium at the time, police said.
No one was hit by the gunshot.
Columbus Felony Assault Unit is investigating the shooting and asks that anyone with information contact Det. Deryl Kowalski at 614-645-4189. Tips can also be submitted to Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS (8477.) ....

Gym at Bishop Hartley struck by stray bullet while students inside taking test

COLUMBUS, Ohio A stray bullet went through the wall and hit a metal beam inside the gym at Bishop Hartley High School Tuesday morning, according to Columbus police.
In a letter to families, school administrators wrote there was a situation at an apartment complex, just northwest of Bishop Hartley, when a gun was fired.
According to the letter, about 60 freshman students were in the gym taking the standardized IOWA test at the time. Two teachers were also in the gym. No one was hurt.
The school reported the incident to Columbus police and students were moved to the cafeteria. ....
