Greenhalgh wins Round 1 of the Musto Skiff Corona Cup 2021

Reigning national champion Pete Greenhalgh narrowly won the first round of the Musto Skiff Corona Cup 2021 after an eventful day on the Solent on Saturday 15 May.
A Corona Cup is a bit like an open meeting, except the Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions are little more than a hundred words on a shared WhatsApp group, £20 paid online, with two ribs manned by willing volunteers, one crew operating as committee boat and the other as rescue boat. Running the racing last weekend were two dads of two of the leadings lights in the Musto Skiff fleet, Pete s father David Greenhalgh along with Rob Tarboton, father of Andy. Driving the rescue rib were Jo, backed up by the ever-cheery presence of the Royal Navy s own Dave Moyes. ....

2021 UK Musto Skiff Nationals Opens for Entries

The 2021 Noble Marine UK Musto Skiff National Championships will be open for entries from 5pm today, Tuesday 18th May. This year s regatta is due to take place over Thursday 29th July - Sunday 1st August at Sunderland Yacht Club (SYC).
The four-day regatta will determine the next UK National Champion for the Musto Skiff class. The Title is currently held by Peter Greenhalgh, following his win at the last UK Nationals in September 2020.
The North East of England, and Sunderland in particular, was a former Musto Skiff strong hold in the early days of the class. Musto Skiff sailors including Ian Trotter, Kev Anderson, Martin Boatman, Ian Turnbull, and Mark Addison were all considered as the early pioneers of the class - and some of them still sail in the class today. Ovington Boats is also based up the road in Tynemouth and is the exclusive boat builder for the Musto Skiff. ....

Hamble River Sailing Club s 2021 Hamble Warming Pan over the Easter weekend featured the Junior Warming Pan on Saturday and the 59th edition of the club s famous dinghy open meeting on Sunday, with a total fleet of 84 locally based boats attracted by good weather and the Easter staycation .
With two fleets of Optimists, one for the more experienced racers and the Regatta class for beginners, plus Fevas and Toppers and a mix of other junior classes under PY, the brisk north-easterly breeze delivered thrills and spills for the 50 entrants, all under the watchful eye of PRO Mike Foster and the many assistants aboard the committee and safety boats. ....
