The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration last week put this graphic on its website illustrating how the 30-year temperature averages for the period from 1991 to 2020 compare to the averages for the years 1901 to 2000 throughout the continental United States.

Weather in Topeka, the U.S. is getting progressively warmer

Average temperatures are rising in Topeka, though not as much as they are nationally, newly released figures show.
As it does every 10 years, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration last week put out statistics showing average temperatures and precipitation amounts over the past 30 years taken at its more than 9,000 reporting stations nationwide.
The listing identifies new climate normals in terms of temperature and precipitation for those places from 1991 to 2020.
It replaces the previous listing, which covered 1981 to 2010.
The new figures show the NOAA s National Weather Service recorded an average temperature of 55.8 degrees between 1991 and 2020 at its Topeka office near Philip Billard Municipal Airport, up 0.7 degrees from the average of 55.1 recorded there between 1981 and 2010, said weather service meteorologist Matt Flanagan. ....
