The New Ulm Medical Center has a new state-of-the-art trauma cart in the Emergency Department, thanks to funding from the New Ulm Medical Center Foundation. May is Trauma Awareness Month, and NUMC is recognized as a Level 4 trauma center. Shown in the photo is the new Stryker Prime X Zoom Stretcher.

Winthrop man faces felony threats of violence charge | News, Sports, Jobs

NEW ULM A 54-year-old rural Winthrop man was arrested April 23 near New Ulm Medical Center (NUMC) after police noticed a particular sign among several messages on the outside of his vehicle.
A felony threats of violence and misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge were filed in Brown County District Court Monday against Ronald H. Schoenborn, 52895 330th Street, Winthrop. Bail without conditions was set at $100,000 ($10,000 with conditions) Monday. Conditions include no leaving Minnesota without written, court approval, no contact with victims, not entering New Ulm Medical Center except for a medical emergency, and no threats of violence. A court hearing was set for 9:30 a.m. May 4.

BROWN COUNTY Brown County Public Health reported 29 new COVID-19 cases Monday, April 12 since the last report on April 9.
New, laboratory-confirmed cases ranged in age from under age 10 to individuals in their 60s.
Public health reported 2,912 total confirmed cases, 99 active cases in isolation, 2,774 total cases out of isolation and 39 COVID-19-related deaths.
“We encourage people seeking COVID-19 vaccines to sign up on our wait list on our Facebook site or call our office at 507-233-6820,” said Brown County Public Health Supervisor Jaime Brand.
The Brown County COVID-19 dashboard reported 142 total hospitalizations and 17 individuals in ICU Monday.
Confirmed COVID-19 cases by month in 2021 are 210 in January, 211 in February, 313 in March and 162 in April so far.

Homeless woman accused of biting officer | News, Sports, Jobs

NEW ULM A 20-year-old homeless woman accused of biting an officer in the arm and kicking a deputy in the groin faces three charges filed in Brown County District Court.
Charges filed April 7 against Bailey R. Skelley include felony fourth-degree assault of a peace officer-demonstrable bodily harm, gross misdemeanor fourth-degree assault and misdemeanor obstructing the legal process.
A warrant was issued and an order to extend the 36-hour rule was approved in court April 7 as Skelley remains in detox and will not be fit for release from the medical facility within 36 hours of arrest.
According to court documents, Brown County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched at 5:12p.m. April 5 to a suspicious white vehicle on the side of the road at the intersection of 145th Avenue and 215th Street, Cottonwood Township, just south of New Ulm.
