Rowan-Cabarrus Community College to Celebrate Second Drive-Through Graduation

SALISBURY – Rowan-Cabarrus Community College will once again honor graduates with a drive-through commencement ceremony at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The event is scheduled for Friday, May 21 and will follow the same socially distanced format as the College’s December 2020 graduation ceremony.
Graduates will, quite literally, cross the finish line on the Speedway’s track beginning at 10 a.m.
“We continue to make it our priority to keep our students, faculty and staff as safe as possible while celebrating the remarkable achievements of our graduates under the challenging conditions presented by COVID-19,” said Dr. Carol S. Spalding, president of Rowan-Cabarrus. “Our December graduation on the track was an experience to remember, and we know that this ceremony also will create memories for a lifetime.” ....

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Feb. 15, 2021 /PRNewswire/  Today, Novant Health and Michael Jordan announced a $10 million gift to open two medical clinics in New Hanover County on the southeastern coast of North Carolina. The regional health care system and Jordan previously partnered to open two Michael Jordan Family Clinics in Charlotte, N.C., bringing comprehensive primary care, including behavioral health and social support services, to the area s most vulnerable communities. Jordan s gift will help Novant Health bring this same integrated care model to more rural and rural-adjacent communities in his hometown, offering much-needed services to those who are uninsured or underinsured. The two new clinics are slated to open in early 2022. ....

NORTH CAROLINA Basketball legend Michael Jordan is providing an assist for his hometown in North Carolina by donating $10 million that will be used to open two new medical clinics in New Hanover County.
The family clinics will provide comprehensive primary care, behavioral health and social support for uninsured and underinsured patients in rural and rural-adjacent communities, Novant Health said.
The clinics are slated to open in early 2022.
