The New Forest has an excellent selection of picture perfect pubs surrounded by stunning countryside full of free-roaming animals. Visitors are never far from a popular watering hole they can pop into for a refreshing drink and something great to eat. New Forest Inn - Emery Down The New Forest Inn has a gorgeous covered terrace and a large secret garden. Tucked away in the chocolate box village of Emery Down, you won’t be stuck for choice on what to eat or drink with their amazing local dishes, including their popular new summer menu featuring chargrilled chicken burger and a selection of home-made pies. ....
Alongside the famous pies, pub classics such as fish and chips, liver and bacon and ham, egg and chips are served up. Other favourites include Sundays Roasts, vegan lasagne, burgers and the New Forest Chicken Stack. For the sweet-toothed, there s crumbles, cheesecakes or sticky toffee pudding, served with cream, ice cream, custard or all three! There s a great selection of local real ales including Flack Manor from Romsey, as well as an extensive wine list. The pub boasts a quirky sloping back garden, which is now mainly under the cover of marquees, gazebos and large umbrellas to allow for the very British weather this spring. The garden seats 100 comfortably with the top drenched in sun all day, sloping down to the newly built marquee area for outdoor dining. Length: 6.6 miles An enchanting walk for when nothing but the winding wonders of the woods will do. It has a range of flowers and wildlife along the way and is a great location for those who enjoy birdwatching. See if you can spot a kingfisher on the River Test, which is part of the Test Walk which makes up part of the route. It’s a well-paved route and has reasonable inclines which make for comfortable walking, apart from the odd muddy stretch. The Abbots Mitre is also a lovely pub to relax at after such a long walk. ....
