Kiwi superstar Melody Belle has gone under the hammer for $2.6 million at Tuesday’s Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale on the Gold Coast.
Bidding opened at $1 million for the star daughter of Commands and after a slow start, Yulong Investments finally won the bidding battle to secure the 14-time Group 1 winner. They will send the mare to Written Tycoon for the upcoming breeding season.
Melody Belle, trained by Jamie Richards, was expected to be one of the top lots at the Sale after her racing career came to a close with a fifth placing in Saturday’s Group 1 Doomben Cup.
