The New Hampshire Medical Society, along with the New Hampshire American Academy of Pediatrics, New Hampshire Psychiatric Society, New Hampshire American College of Physicians, New Hampshire Academy of Family Physicians, oppose House Bill 544, “An Act relative to the propagation of divisive concepts.”
This bill defines and prohibits the dissemination of certain divisive concepts related to sex and race in state contracts, grants, and training programs.
From a public health standpoint, there is clear evidence that inequities and disparities disproportionately affect people of color and women. We need to learn about these topics in trainings in order to address them and create true health equity in New Hampshire. If we can’t talk about the facts, we can’t solve the problem. ....

COVID-19: Kendal at Hanover sees cases in residents

UNITY An outbreak at Sullivan County nursing home in Unity has grown to include 35 people, including 21 residents and 14 employees, said Ted Purdy, the facility’s administrator, in an email. Five employees have recovered and returned to work, he said. Elsewhere in the Upper Valley, Kendal at Hanover now has an outbreak.
Kendal’s outbreak includes three residents, Kendal spokesman Jeff Roosevelt said in an email Thursday. He also said there was one new case in an employee in addition to the four he described earlier in the week.
Kendal, which is on Lyme Road north of downtown Hanover, was one of 11 long-term care facilities that state officials on Thursday added to the list of facilities with ongoing outbreaks. ....

New Hampshire health officials have announced more details about the next stage of the state’s vaccine plan, which they say will begin in mid- or late-January. But many are awaiting further information that they hope will clarify the available guidance.
Doctors like Douglas Phelan, a family medicine doctor with Elliot Family Medicine in Bedford, say they’ve been overwhelmed with phone calls from patients who want to know when they can get the vaccine. Phelan said his practice still doesn’t have much information to offer, though officials say physicians will be some of the people administering vaccines in the coming weeks. ....
