New statewide campaign showcases restaurants offering safe outdoor dining

A statewide marketing campaign, “Maine Outdoor Dine,” launched Monday to showcase Maine restaurants and breweries that offer ways to enjoy food and drink comfortably and safely outdoors. 
The campaign‘s website, MaineOutdoorDine.com, provides information about more than 80 participating businesses from around the state, with more being added every week.

Funded by the Maine Office of Tourism and developed by the Greater Portland Council of Governments, the campaign is running a video on social media and also offers a chance to win $50 gift cards at participating locations. To enter, customers must share a photo on social media of their outdoor dining experience. ....

With right attitude and outerwear, the fun of dining outside in winter outweighs the drawbacks
The pandemic has led some restaurants to extend outdoor dining long past the usual season, appealing to diners with heated patios and private chalets. We explore the al fresco experience when the temperature dips.

At 7:30 a.m., I check the temperature outside (16 degrees) and lay out my clothes on the bed: long underwear top and bottom, two pairs of socks (the outermost of bulky wool), turtleneck, Woolrich ski sweater with snowflake pattern (apt), warm winter hiking pants, REI nylon rain pants, warmest wooliest hat, lined mittens (made from a cast-off wool sweater), down coat that reaches past my knees, wraparound scarf that will wrap three times in a pinch, ....
