The world was also still fighting and then recovering from World War I. Meanwhile, the children of the county looked forward with innocent eyes to the magical arrival of Santa Claus. Eula Ossofsky Eula Wood Ossofsky, 89, of Boothbay Harbor, Maine died peacefully on Dec. 9, 2020 with the love of her family surrounding her. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, auntie, and friend. Eula was born in Elmira, New York on May 23, 1931. She was the cherished daughter of Paul and Florence Wood. Always working to help others in nursing-related fields, Eula had an exciting and challenging career. She was a nurse (graduating from St. James School of nursing in Hornell, New York), a Steuben County City Health nurse, caseworker for seasonal migratory farm workers, director of Medical Social Services at Arnot Ogden Memorial Hospital in Elmira, New York, director of Portland, Maine’s National Council of Aging, and an arthritis research nurse in Alexandria, Virginia. ....
