Bengaluru’s Indian Institute of Science achieved first rank in research
Bengaluru’s Indian Institute of Science (IISc) achieved first rank in research the QS World University Rankings 2022. The institute also secured 186th position in the universities ranking. Besides, IISc Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay and Delhi also made it to the list of top 200.
IISc Bengaluru ranked number 1 in the world for research. QS Quacquarelli Symonds, global higher education analysts, today released the 18th edition of the world’s International University rankings.
“Congratulations to IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi. Efforts are underway to ensure more universities and institutions of India scale global excellence and support intellectual prowess among the youth,” said Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a tweet. ....

India Coronavirus Dispatch: IISc vaccine better than others, says minister


Over 343,144 fresh cases reported
India reported 343,144 fresh coronavirus infections on Friday, taking the cumulative caseload to 24 million, according to central health ministry data. The country saw 4000 deaths due to the pandemic, taking the death toll to 262,317. The active caseload is at 3.7 million, while the total recoveries have surged to 20 million. IN NUMBERS: Over 18,000 fresh cases reported
India reported 18,711 fresh coronavirus infections on Sunday, taking the cumulative caseload to 11,210,799, according to a report in the Scroll. The country saw 100 deaths due to the pandemic, taking the death toll to 157,756, according to central health ministry data. The active caseload is at 184,523, while the total recoveries have surged to 10,868,520. As many as 20,922,344 people have been inoculated since the nationwide inoculation programme kicked off on January 16. Of these, 1,424,693 received their shots on Saturday. Read more here
