Petrol price soared past ₹100-a-litre mark in Bihar after fuel prices were hiked again on Sunday on the back of a surge in international oil rates.
Petrol price was hiked by 35 paise per litre and diesel by 25 paise, according to a price notification of state-owned fuel retailers.
The increase, second in as many days and 31st in less than two months, took rates across the country to fresh highs with Bihar becoming the latest state to see petrol cross ₹100-a-litre mark.
Petrol and diesel prices were hiked by 35 paise per litre each on Saturday.

The Indian National Congress has decided to hold a 10-day nationwide agitational programme against skyrocketing fuel prices and increasing inflation.
"Moved by the plight of the people already suffering on account of the Covid pandemic, rampant unemployment and salary cuts, the Congress party has decided to launch nationwide agitation programs at Block, District and State levels," read a statement by the party.

All India Youth Congress national president B.V. Srinivasulu on Friday demanded that the Centre immediately reduce the prices of petrol and diesel, stating that the poor and middle-class sections were badly affected by its spiraling effect on the prices of essential commodities and their transportation.
Speaking to reporters at Nagari, 65 km from here, after holding a protest rally with Youth Congress cadres in the town, Mr Srinivasulu alleged that the BJP-led NDA government was inclined towards favouring the rich, and not bothered about the plight of the downtrodden sections.

Party general secretary (organisation) K.C. Venugopal in a statement here said the protests are also to highlight the problems being faced by the general public due to the unprecedented economic slowdown, rising unemployment and skyrocketing prices of all essential commodities.
