TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - Friends of PACC is one of more than 1,000 non-profits registered for Arizona Gives Day, which is Tuesday, April 6.
Arizona Gives Day is an annual drive to help organizations across the state.
The groups need help this year more than ever. According to the Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits,
The mission of Friends of PACC is to support the work of Pima Animal Care Center and enhance its efforts to save the lives of pets in need. It is their vision that every pet who comes to PACC is supported with the resources needed to find a loving home. ....

TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - The pandemic has had a traumatic impact on women in the workforce, with minorities being hit the hardest.
The Pew Research Center reports nearly 2.5 million more women than men lost their jobs from February to May last year. A sharp contrast to the Great Recession when 3 million more men than women became unemployed.
“What the pandemic has done is really open the Pandora’s box of what these inequities have looked like,” said Dr. Amalia Luxardo, the CEO of the Women’s Foundation of Southern Arizona. ....

Joy Baynes and Lauren Dasse
 The Women’s Foundation of Southern Arizona has chosen two recipients for this year’s Laura Penny Community Impact Awards—Joy Baynes and Lauren Dasse.
Baynes, a nurse-practitioner at El Rio Community Health Center, was recognized for her work in healthcare with an emphasis on at-risk youth and her dedication to women’s reproductive rights.
She is responsible for developing El Rio’s Reproductive Health Access Project and when Baynes gives her two cents, it’s worth $38 in change. 
“Joy is passionately compassionate, clinically excellent, and a tireless advocate for the marginalized and disenfranchised in our community,” wrote Joy Mockbee, who nominated Baynes for the award.  ....
