ROCKVILLE, MD Maryland State Police have identified a man who was killed after getting out of his vehicle on Interstate 270 in Bethesda Monday morning.
Lloyd A. Gardiner, 57, of Silver Spring, was traveling northbound I-270, at Rockledge Boulevard, around 12:40 a.m. when he got into an accident and subsequently exited his vehicle to investigate, state troopers assigned to the Rockville Barrack said.
While outside, a second vehicle crashed into his vehicle, pushing it into him, police said.

The driver of the second vehicle remained on the scene, according to police. Gardiner s body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy. ....

BETHESDA, MD A 57-year-old man was killed in a motorcycle crash in Bethesda Monday morning.
It happened shortly before 11:30 a.m. at the intersection River and Beech Tree roads.
The motorcyclist who was later identified as Babak Roboubi, of Bethesda and the driver of a 2004 Peterbilt tractor-trailer were traveling westbound on River Road at the time of the incident, according to Montgomery County police.

For reasons still under investigation, Roboubi collided with the side of the tractor-trailer and then struck a 2020 Ford Transit van waiting to turn west onto River Road. ....

A crash killed someone in Bethesda Monday morning, Montgomery County police said.
Police posted on Twitter that a crash involving a motorcycle happened near the intersection of Beech Tree and River Roads and Bethesda just before 11:30 a.m.
The crash was fatal, police wrote. They did not provide additional details.
Pete Piringer, a Montgomery County Fire & Rescue spokesman, posted on Twitter that a motorcycle crash had left one adult with traumatic injuries, and that the person had later died.
The intersection of River and Beech Tree roads was closed following the crash. ....

Federal relief bill likely to save Metro from proposed ‘doomsday’ service cuts
The stimulus bill brokered by Congress should eliminate or significantly reduce Metro’s need to cut weekend rail service, lay off one-third of its workforce, close stations and cut Metrobus service in half.
It is still unclear how much Metro would get from the $900 billion federal stimulus bill, but a chunk of the $14 billion apportioned for public transportation has been earmarked for the Washington metropolitan area. [Washington Post] ....
