And then there is Eid Al-Fitr, literally the Festival of the Breaking of the Fast, also known as the “sweet” holiday, marking the end of Ramadan. It is so committed to exuberant celebration that is forbidden to fast during the one to three days, according to local customs, that it is observed. ....

The nation’s capital has indeed its share of good restaurants of all types. You wouldn’t expect anything less in an area with such a large and diverse population. But the time away made me realize and appreciate just how great of a food scene we have here, too. Sadly, some of my favorite restaurants closed while I was gone places like Sokolowski’s University Inn, Spice Kitchen, and Lola Bistro, to name a few. Still, I’m glad to be back and luckily there are still plenty of uniquely Cleveland spots that I can’t wait to eat at again, if I haven’t already. ....
