Carl LaVO shares historic animal tales from Bucks County

A couple of friends suggested I look into a few stories from different sections of our historic county. Sally Sondesky of the Bensalem Historical Society offered up the legend of a tiger that terrorized the Torresdale Manor section of Bensalem in 1879. Fletcher Walls of the Doylestown Historical Society sent me information on a pigeon farm like no other in New Britain in 1925.

The array of large hand-crafted, three-dimensional scenes illustrate the moving of the Liberty Bell to keep it away from approaching British forces; William Penn’s purchase of land from Native Americans; ambassador Benjamin Franklin winning crucial colonial support from the French; the signing of the Declaration of Independence; George Washington and his troops surviving a hard winter at an encampment at Valley Forge; Washington crossing of the Delaware River; and the Battle of Germantown. ....
