Corvette C8 Drag Races Stock Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat With Surprising Results

Having shown that there isn’t much of a difference in terms of quarter-mile acceleration between the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 and Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat, Hennessey now pinned the latter against the new mid-engine Chevrolet Corvette.
Both rides are bone stock, with the three-row SUV having less than 100 miles (160 km) on the odo. However, since it will soon welcome their HPE1000 upgrade, with around 1,000-horsepower, the tuner figured it would be a good moment to test it out against the C8 ‘Vette.
And they did so at the Pennzoil Proving Grounds, organizing two quarter-mile drag races. Mind you, the result is quite surprising, as it was actually a flawless victory. We won’t tell you which one went across the finish line first, as that’s something you’ll have to see for yourselves. ....

Back in 2019, we found out that Hennessey Performance once again performed a little bit of 1,000-horsepower magic and turned the unassuming V6-powered Jeep Gladiator into the 6.2-liter Hellcat V8-touting Maximus. But, ever since, we have only seen the amazing truck in off-road-related situations.

Sure, we also caught the big rig up on the dyno stand sporting 692-wheel horsepower (which is great, considering the off-road-biased setup), but that didn’t actually count as time spent on the tarmac, right? Instead, we have mostly seen Maximus acting like it was ready to raise the dead from their graves or as if turned into a lawnmower from hell. ....
