- Advertisement - It may be a little unconventional, but Switzerland County High School will hold its Winter Homecoming tomorrow (Friday) night. The festivities will be included in the boys junior varsity and varsity home basketball games with Shawe Memorial. Traditionally one the biggest crowds of the year, this year’s Homecoming will be held in compliance with guidelines surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. Switzerland County High School Principal David Todd said that each player, cheerleader, and Homecoming candidate will be allowed to bring four family members to Homecoming. Those family members will be required to sign in at the desk in the lobby of the high school. No other fans will be allowed into the gym. ....
Central Hardin High School senior Katelyn Windell dreams of one day becoming a neonatal nurse practitioner and when she graduates this year, she will be well on her way. Taking dual-credit classes through Elizabethtown ComÂmunÂity and Technical College and HarÂdin County Schools Early College and Career Center, WinÂdell is on her way to earn an associate in science and an associate in arts degrees this year. âIt gives me a lot of comfort knowing that I have such a head-start on my education,â she said. âWhen I sit down and think about it, this head-start has really helped me. I have had a lot tougher classes and a heavier workload; however, I think this has prepared me for college and the workforce.â ....
Ruby Howell and Jennifer Stultz Pratt Tribune Despite the uncertainty of this year, the students and staff at Pratt High School are determined to maintain a safe, fun, Winter Homecoming. This year’s festivities are set to take place Friday, February 5 with coordinators Rayna Bolen, the art teacher at PHS, and Joy Schmidt, the Pep Club sponsor, working to make sure that everything runs smoothly. This year, they hope things will run smoothly, though they may look a little different. Bolen said that usually, she and her art students would be making the elaborate decorations that are such a big part of the assembly. ....
AUBREY SHILLING JERSEY SHORE The Business and Professional Women’s Club Girl of the Month for January is Aubrey Rose Schilling, daughter of Jamie and Mike Schilling of Williamsport. Aubrey’s activities include Model UN, SADD, Prom Committee, Penn College Youth Leadership, one year; Pep Club, Yearbook, Red Cross Club, two years; National Spanish Honor Society, YDTF, three years; and basketball, FBLA, Homecoming Committee and Key Club, four years. Aubrey has served as the class Vice President and Key Club Vice President during her junior year, and is the President of the Key Club during her senior year. Outside of school, Aubrey is a community volunteer while also working part-time at Dairy Queen. ....
