Clarkson woman has DUI wreck with 9 dogs in vehicle

An intoxicated Clarkson woman has been arrested after having a DUI wreck with nine dogs in the car.
Sunday evening at approximately 6:00, Grayson County Deputy Andy Vincent and Sgt. Fred Norder, the East Grayson Fire Department and EMS responded to the 100 block of St. Paul Road, in Big Clifty, on the report of a single-vehicle accident.
Upon arriving at the scene, Vincent found that a 2001 Suzuki XL-7 Grand Vitara, being driven by 67-year-old Patricia A. Heim-Wood, was eastbound on St. Paul Road when it crossed into the westbound lane and “left the left shoulder of the roadway” as it approached a railroad crossing, according to the arrest citation. The vehicle then struck one set of tracks before coming to rest between the two sets of railroad tracks. ....

Mission group offers giveaway for those in need

GOODY, Ky. â A mission group from just outside of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, made their first trip to Pike County this past week to host a drive-thru clothing and toy giveaway for area children and families in need.
Putting Prayers to Action, a 501c3 nonprofit group in Big Clifty, Kentucky, conducted the giveaway Dec. 8 at the Southside Mall in Goody.
Pastor James Justice of the East Point Fellowship Church in Aflex had previously done some mission work with the group and organized for them to hold a giveaway in his community of Pike County ahead of the Christmas holiday.
Justice along with other volunteers from the church assisted Putting Prayers to Action with the well-attended giveaway. By the end of the night, a total 418 vehicles had driven through the event. ....

Farley T. Pence, age 77, of Big Clifty, passed away, Thursday, December 10, 2020, at Baptist Health Hardin.
Farley was born September 17, 1943, to the late Lawrence and Hettie N. Pence. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Helen Ivene Pence and a sister, Verlie Mae Walker.
Farley was a member of the Summit Church of Christ, a full-time farmer and worked for the Hardin Co. Board of Education as a bus driver for 17 years. Farming was his passion in life. He loved what he did, and it was something he took great pride in. Even with all the health issues he had in the last few years, his dedication never failed even through all the pain. ....
