Mumbai to get 12 new water taxi routes, ROPAX services on 4 routes

Mansukh Mandaviya, Minister of State (I/C) for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, chaired a meeting to review the Urban Water Transportation projects for Mumbai, Maharashtra. Senior Officials of the Ministry, Chairperson of Mumbai Port and officials of Maharashtra Maritime Board and other stakeholders were present in the meeting.
The ministry of shipping and waterways has proposed the operationalisation of 4 new routes for ROPAX ferry services and 12 new routes of water taxis by December 2021, in order to promote eco-friendly waterways transportation and reduce the traffic load of crowded Mumbai city roads.
At present, ROPAX (roll-on/roll-off passenger) service from Bhaucha Dhakka (Ferry Wharf) to Mandwa (Alibag) is successfully using waterways, reducing the road journey of 110 km to about 18 km, thereby reducing travel time of daily commuters from about 3-4 hours to merely one hour. President promulgates amended Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code for MSMEs

The President on Sunday promulgated the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (Amendment) Ordinance, 2021, giving effect to the cabinet approval for amendments in the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 (Code), through an ordinance.
The amendments aim to provide an efficient alternative insolvency resolution framework for corporate persons classified as micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) under the Code, for ensuring quicker, cost-effective and value maximising outcomes for all the stakeholders, in a manner which is least disruptive to the continuity of MSMEs’ businesses and which preserves jobs.
The initiative is based on a trust model and the amendments honour the honest MSME owners by trying to ensure that the resolution happens and the company remains with them. ....

The government proposes a modernisation-cum-expansion programme of the Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) to double its current storage capacity by the end of 2023 and achieve a turnover of Rs10,000 crore by FY 2024-25.
CWC should build modern silos so that 100 per cent stock of food grains could be stored for longer period, union minister of food and public distribution and consumer affairs, railways and commerce and industry Piyush Goyal has said.
CWC has been asked to prepare a masterplan for upgradation of its all 423 warehouses, having complete basic public/staff amenities and additional infrastructure to be developed by 2024-25, Goyal said at a review of the modernisation plan of Central Warehouse Corporation. ....
