NASSAU, BAHAMAS For ninety years, the Salvation Army’s iconic crimson and white shield has been a symbol of help and hope in The Bahamas, and the organization’s services and volunteers a vital lifeline for those most vulnerable. On May 3, 2021, the Bahamas Salvation Army, one of the largest non-governmental direct providers of social services in the country, celebrated 90 years of being a pillar of support in the community. “As we look back on 90 years, we celebrate God’s faithfulness and the kindness of the Bahamian people in helping those in need,” stated Major Clarence Ingram, Salvation Army divisional commander. “As we look to the future, we pledge to continue to provide support and ‘Do the Most Good.’” ....
SALISBURY, MD. – This week the motto is “Doing The Most Good,” at least for the Salvation Army of the Lower Eastern Shore as National Salvation Army Week kicks off. Today, Officers and staff kicked off the week providing lunch to customers, showing their appreciation to the community. The organization also provides shelter to those experiencing homelessness and meals to the hungry. The Salvation Army has been working with communities on the Eastern Shore for 108 years and they say their work is far from done. “Because we know that people have fallen on hard times, all of us have fallen on hard times with the pandemic. Waynesboro Record Herald Waynesboro s Service Unit of the Salvation Army didn t just match last year s charitable giving, they blew away 2019 s total. According to Tom McCloud, chairman of the Waynesboro unit, giving was up 41% over last year. Overwhelming support, even in this most difficult year, from the volunteers and donations from the public resulted in over $14,000 being raised, McCloud said. These funds will be used in the Waynesboro, Greencastle and Mercersburg areas to support efforts of the Salvation Army to Do the Most Good. For over 150 years, the Salvation Army has been helping individuals and families that are in need, not only at Christmas, but throughout the year. ....
