Local film Two Hues scores another award at Berlin Short Film Festival
South African short film âTwo Huesâ is again making waves on the global stage.
Shot in Cape Town, the film, which has been screened at a festival in the UK, was awarded the best director prize at the North Europe International Film Festival last month, and has now been awarded âBest Women Empowerment Filmâ at the Berlin Short Film Festival this past weekend.
This is the third international award since its release on the international festival circuit in January for Two Huesâ.
âIt is an amazing achievement for the film to receive accolades from countries in which the cinema culture is so very advanced, like the UK, France and Germany. I believe the juries of these festivals appreciate the craft displayed in the film,â said award-winning film-maker Weaam Williams. ....

Quarantined: Love in the time of Corona?
Blame it on the quarantine, the lockdown that we are in. During my quarantine, I wanted to explore the lives of others who are my co-passengers in this ordeal. I wanted to know when our mechanised lives are forced to become human and we are forced to break our routines, forced to relook at our lives as well as our relationships, and last but not the least, forced to give time to things and people who really matter, that too unlimited, what happens? In addition, for a writer, creativity is your only trusted friend. Therefore, I created these characters, these protagonists and put them in the same premise of the quarantine and watch them respond and react to different scenarios that I toyed with as a writer. Finally, as they say, the beauty of a short story is that you can travel to the end of the world and can be back ....
