At Norwich University, she joined the women’s hockey club that preceded the women’s varsity ice hockey program. In almost 20 years of policing, she drew on conflict resolution skills to earn Officer of the Year recognition certificates from California’s state Senate and Assembly and the U.S. Congress. On Nov. 1, Delfino, a 1999 Norwich graduate, earned important stripes, becoming the first woman sergeant in the Gilroy, California, police department’s 62-year history. 3:55 A Pacific Grove police officer placed on administrative leave for allegedly posting racist comments on social media is no longer employed at the department. It marked the second time he was investigated and put on administrative leave within the past eight months. Last summer, a complaint was sent to Pacific Grove Police Chief Cathy Madalone concerning stickers on the officer s personal truck. (The department is not naming the officer because of a law that protects his privacy). The truck was parked in public view at the police department.

A Northern California police officer is no longer employed by his department after posting disparaging comments about the Black Lives Matter movement on social media. Pacific Grove Police Chief Cathy Madalone said in a six-minute video posted to the department’s YouTube channel on Wednesday that the officer who made the comments on the right-wing social media platform in November is “no longer employed by the city of Pacific Grove in any capacity.” Madalone said she couldn’t provide more information about the matter due to “legal constraints.” Late last year the chief said the post in question said “F–k Black Lives Matter.” Pending the investigation, the officer was placed on leave at that time. ....
