Steps are to be taken to improve the appearance of a landmark bandstand in Recreation Park on Binghamton s West Side. Mayor Richard David said some minor repair work and painting is to be done this summer at the structure that was built nearly a century ago. The bandstand has a marker dedicated to television producer and screenwriter Rod Serling, who grew up near the park. According to Executive Administrative Assistant Amy Muccio, over the last two years, the requests for events, in addition to the usually scheduled, and very popular, Wednesday and Saturday concerts have increased.
