HOLYOKE – Police and firefighters responded to the Kmart Plaza Sunday at around 1:30 a.m. for a report of a car that crashed into American Brake and Muffler at 2237 Northampton St. According to the Holyoke Fire Department, the car left the roadway, went through a guardrail, down an embankment and penetrated the exterior concrete block wall of the building. The driver was transported to a hospital emergency room by ambulance. No other injuries were reported, according to the Fire Department.

Rescuers in remote eastern Indonesia dug through the debris of a landslide Tuesday in search of as many as 21 people believed to be buried in one of several disasters brought on by severe weather in the Southeast Asian nation and neighbouring East Timor.
