The second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic has forced India to accept foreign aid including from the Chinese Red Cross for the first time in 16 years. For Indians of a certain persuasion, there is a particular shame in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Indian government having to seek foreign aid. This is because seeking aid from outside, or relying on an ‘outsider’, deflates the vishwaguru trope.

India allows Pakistan PM Imran Khan to use Indian airspace during Sri Lanka visit
The Indian government has allowed Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan s aircraft to use Indian airspace. Khan is scheduled to travel to Sri Lanka on a two-day trip from February 23.
India has allowed Khan s aircraft to use Indian airspace. He is travelling to Sri Lanka, ANI reported.
Besides his meetings with Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and attending an investors conference, Khan was to address the Sri Lankan Parliament on February 24. However, the planned address to the Parliament has been cancelled. ....
