Kentucky Justice and Public Safety Cabinet Secretary Mary Noble is retiring later this month after a 19 months of service, Gov. Andy Beshear announced Friday.
Before Noble was appointed to the position in December 2019, she served 10 years on the Kentucky Supreme Court, where she was the first woman to preside over an oral argument.
She also is the first woman to serve as secretary of Kentucky s justice cabinet, which oversees the state s jails and police.
“I appreciate the opportunity Gov. Beshear gave me to work on criminal justice issues at the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet,” Noble said in a statement. “Throughout my career, I have been interested in these issues, from being a criminal defense attorney to starting drug courts as a circuit judge and helping pass juvenile justice reforms as a Supreme Court Justice.
