This year’s Padma Awards had some surprises. Among the awardees are two prominent Islamic scholars,
viz., Maulana Wahiduddin Khan and Maulana Kalbe Sadiq (posthumously), who have been awarded the Padma Vibhushan and the Padma Bhushan, India’s second and third highest civilian honour/awards, respectively. The nonagenarian scholar, Wahiduddin Khan had earlier been conferred the Padma Bhushan in 2000, and the Rajiv Gandhi National Sadbhavana Award in 2009.

It s embarrassing. Like some televangelist preacher caught with his pants down at an out-of-town house-of-pleasure, America has been caught with its democracy down.
Point one: a scary but also confused and confusing coup d etat ― another to come? Point two: A Republican president who should never have been president ― a reality-show coup-leader-in-chief.
Point three: a first lady (traditional American family symbol) whose main contribution was to the bottom lines of the money-mongers of haute couture. And point four (most embarrassing of all): Many in the American Republican Party seemed to be mostly enjoying the crazy ride.

The FBI warned America about the growing dangers of domestic violent extremists and called it the number one terrorism threat in 2021. These days, most people who get into that space get there on the internet because it s so easy to find yourself in a space where people are spewing hate and extremist ideology, said Dr. Stevan Weine, UIC Professor of Psychiatry.

Links International Journal of Socialist Renewal reposted from Prometheus “Our Green New Deal,” read the Labour Party’s 2019 manifesto, “aims to achieve the substantial majority of our emissions reductions by 2030 in a way that is evidence-based, just and that delivers an economy that serves the interests of the many, not the few.”[1] This was a central pillar of the election platform that suffered an historic defeat last December. As the ecological crisis continues unabated, the Green New Deal has solidified its place as the programmatic response among the left. Its core ideas have reappeared in the immediate economic crisis in the guise of a ‘green recovery’ and calls to ‘build back better’. This article argues that, from the perspective of Marxist ecology, the apparent path between a Green New Deal and an ecosocialism is confronted with several contradictions and strategic problems.
