As with most meteorologists, Chris Gloninger became interested in weather when Hurricane Bob hit his hometown of Sag Harbor, NY. He stayed on a weather track completing internships at NOAA in Upton, NY and WABC in New York. He received his BS in Meteorology from Plymouth State University and was awarded a CBM from the American Meteorological Society where he presently serves on the Broadcast Board.
While Chris was in college, he worked as a Traffic Control Officer in his hometown and as a Fireman in Plymouth, NH. During the American Meteorological Society’s annual meeting in New Orleans, Chris delivered a paper on the importance of communication between Broadcast Meteorologists and First Responders. Viewers take weather warnings more seriously when there are actual reports from First Responders in the field. The Shelter Island Town Board took a first step Friday toward obtaining funds from the federal Corona Virus Relief Program, moving quickly to set in motion its application.
It’s currently unknown what money might be available to the town for expenses incurred in conjunction with services it’s had to implement to deal with the pandemic. But it’s assumed that when the town learns specifics about what money it might receive, there would be a short period in which to apply. The 11 presidential aspirants have a huge task to address the land and natural resources question in Uganda. Land, natural resources, both renewable and non-renewable, are part of the wealth of Uganda.
They are natural capital out of which other forms of capital are made. They are vital in contributing towards fiscal revenue.
Income, poverty reduction and, most importantly, sectors related to land and natural resources provide jobs and livelihoods in poor communities. The general elections due January 14, 2021 will be held as oil companies prepare to make an investment decision for Uganda’s oil project.
