FreightWaves in-person events quickly became known for their trendsetting experiences since their launch in 2018, but the COVID pandemic forced a change in 2020. While the company switched to virtual events last year, the same on-site experience was missing.
It won’t be later this year. FreightWaves will open the doors to an in-person event with F3: Future of Freight Festival.

Gainesville City Commissioners will meet with Florida traffic officials in a mounting effort to make roads safer after two student deaths less than two months apart on University Avenue.
The City Commission has broken down its efforts into a series of short- and long-term policies. Commissioners believe there are a number of immediate changes that can be made to stretches of the state highway inside the city, such as lowering the speed limit, equipping sidewalks with better lighting and increasing traffic enforcement. ....

Harvey Ward: Responding to tragedy

Almost exactly one month ago The Sun published a column from me about traffic safety and the work we must do as a community to make our roads safer for everyone. I wrote, “Death on our roadways can be a thing of the past.”
Less than a week later two cars crashed into each other on University Avenue in front of the University of Florida. One of the cars skidded into a group of students waiting to cross the street. Six people were taken to a hospital and one, 18-year-old Sophia Lambert, died from injuries sustained in the accident.
To say that my words from earlier that week ring hollow to me now is the height of understatement. ....
