Bulgarian President Roumen Radev has signed a decree dissolving the 45th National Assembly on May 12 and setting the date for early parliamentary elections on July 11.
With a separate decree, Radev appointed Stefan Yanev as caretaker Prime Minister effective May 12, the presidency said in a media statement on May 11.
The statement listed the ministers appointed to the caretaker Cabinet and said that they would be formally presented at a ceremony at the presidency on May 12. The CVs of the caretaker Cabinet members are as follows:

A graduate of Bulgaria’s G.S. Rakovski military academy, he has held several department head positions in the Defence Ministry and has served as military attaché at Bulgaria’s embassy in Washington, DC. Prior to this appointment, he was Radev’s defence advisor, having served as deputy PM and defence minister in the Ognyan Gerdzhikov caretaker cabinet appointed by Radev in 2017.
The Management of Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals on Thursday, reiterated its commitment to protecting the shorelines and fishing activities in Lekki coastal environment, thereby allaying the fears of fishermen and other residents in the area.
The company said its Dangote Jetty has been constructed with Sandbar Breakwater technology, which is a unique concept that follows the building-with-nature philosophy.
According to Dangote, the Sandbar Breakwater is capable of reducing costal erosion and protecting the shorelines by interrupting wave energy and allowing sand to accumulate along the coast.
General Manager (Survey), Dangote Oil Refining Company Limited, Rajnish Kumar Gupta, who spoke on behalf of the Head, Maritime & Ports Infrastructure, Dangote Oil Refining Company Limited, Capt. Rajen Sachar, described the concept as based on the knowledge and principles of the local natural system and its dynamics, which makes optional use of the ecosystems available.
The General Manager (Survey), Dangote Oil Refining Company Limited, Rajnish Kumar Gupta, who spoke on behalf of the Head, Maritime & Ports Infrastructure, Dangote Oil Refining Company Limited, Capt. Rajen Sachar, said: “Sandbar Breakwaters don’t interfere with wildlife habitats. They may change how wave transmission energy occurs, but this doesn’t change the fact that animals will still have a place that they can call home.”
He disclosed that the facility can handle large vessels up to 16,000 metric tonnes (MT). “The Jetty has a soil stabilised back up pavement covering approximately 17,750 square metres, available for stacking the cargoes prior their onward movement to the refinery.”

AfCFTA: NANTS decries absence of national trade policy as agreement takes-off

The National Association of Nigerian Traders (NANTS) has called for an urgent drafting of a Nigerian national trade policy document to harmonised all trade relations with neighboring and third-party countries.
This is coming as the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) goes into force on January 1, 2021. Following years of preparation, and a pandemic postponement from its original start date in mid-2019, the world will welcome the largest free trade area since the development of the World Trade Organization, by number of participating countries.
The NANTS President, Dr Ken Ukaoha, in a statement on Nigeria’s “negotiations scorecard and agenda-setting for 2021” said the prolonged absence of trade and Investment related policies despite the long cry on the subjects has not helped in Nigeria’s positioning and the provision of negotiation compass.
