WAKEFIELD, RI A sure sign the spring is coming to Southern Rhode Island: Brickley s Ice Cream is set to reopen within a month. The popular local business announced that the Wakefield store is scheduled to kick off the 2021 season March 18.
Brickley s has two locations: the High Street store in Wakefield and the second in Narragansett. The Boston Neck Road store will open in early May, the owners announced on their website, after more members of the college-age staff return home.
This year, the Wakefield location will offer both walk-up and online ordering options, a message on the company s website said. More information about operations will come closer to the opening date. ....

Officials fear $17M road bond will come up short


NARRAGANSETT – Town officials are concerned that a $17 million bond approved in 2012 will not be enough to complete the renovation and reconstruction of a number of roads originally slated for the project, estimating that a total of about $25 million will be needed.
“The $17 million is not going to rebuild all of the roadways that were listed,” said Narragansett Department of Public Works Director (DPW) Mike DiCicco. “I think it was about $25 million that will have covered everything. We’re going to be able to finish a good chunk of the roads but we’ll have to regroup and figure out what we’re going to do to go after the rest of them at some point.” ....
