MOI refers 386 to prosecution for Covid-19 violations

Doha: Ministry of Interior (MoI) officials have intensified their efforts to take action against individuals violating Covid-19 precautionary measures in the country and have reported 386 violations in the country.  
The officials referred them to the Public Prosecution for their violations. 
337 were booked for not wearing masks in public while 44 were found violating the limit allowed in a vehicle, which is specified as four persons, including the driver, except for members of the same family. 
The Ministry also referred 2 persons for not maintaining social distancing and 3 for not installing the Ehteraz application. 
Till now 14,169 people have been referred to the Public Prosecution for not wearing masks and 568 people for not following the limit of people inside a vehicle. ....

Tauranga ratepayers have paid more than $6 million to help cover the city council s prosecution and operational costs following the Bella Vista Homes fallout.
And ratepayer representatives say people are fed up with the continued
ongoing costs related to the saga.
In March 2018, 21 homes and building sites that were part of the failed Bella Vista Homes development at The Lakes were evacuated due to safety fears. Tauranga City Council later prosecuted five parties connected to the subdivision with a raft of charges relating to breaches of the Building Act. ....

President Moon Jae-in should be held accountable for the unilateral reshuffling of senior prosecutors without having any consultations with Shin Hyun-soo, the senior presidential secretary for civil affairs. It is embarrassing to know that Shin has repeatedly offered to resign to protest the reshuffle, which Moon has rejected each time. But Shin must have felt that he was sidelined in the decision-making process.
The President has the right to appoint and reshuffle prosecutors at the recommendation of the justice minister. Yet the senior civil affairs secretary has traditionally played a key role in the prosecution s personnel affairs. In this regard, it is difficult to understand why Moon disregarded him in conducting a small-scale reshuffle of senior prosecutors, Feb. 7. ....
