IHC to hear plea against Nawaz's acquittal in Flagship case - Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday decided to hear the appeals of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) seeking to set aside acquittal of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif in the Flagship reference and enhance his sentence in Al-Azizia reference.
Accountability judge Arshad Malik had acquitted Mr Sharif in the Flagship reference on Dec 24, 2018, and sentenced him to seven-year imprisonment in Al-Azizia reference.
The Supreme Court on July 28, 2017, had disqualified Mr Sharif from holding a public office and directed NAB to file three references against the Sharif family in accountability court. ....

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday adjourned hearing till June 9, on appeals in graft references against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his family members pertaining to Al-Azizia Steel Mills, Avenfield property and Flagship Investment.
A division bench comprising Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani heard the appeals filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against the former prime minister, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Muhammad Safdar Awan.
Maryam Nawaz, Muhammad Safdar, NAB’s Deputy Prosecutor General Sardar Muzaffar Abbasi and prosecutor Jahanzeb Bharwana appeared before the court. During proceeding, the NAB prosecutor requested the bench to dismiss appeals of the former prime minister against his imprisonment sentences due to non-pursuance and absence. ....

Ex-president Zardari gets bail on medical grounds in NAB inquiry

ISLAMABAD: A division bench of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday granted former president Asif Ali Zardari bail on medical grounds in a National Accountability Bureau (NAB) inquiry pertaining to suspicious transactions worth Rs8 billion.
The bench, comprising Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani, heard the pre-arrest bail case of Asif Zardari.
Zardari’s counsel Farouk Naek stated that the medical board had submitted its report regarding the health of former president in detail. The bail petition had been filed on medical grounds, he said, adding that his client would cooperate with the NAB investigation. ....

NAB files first reference against Sindh CM - Newspaper


ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Tuesday filed a reference against Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in the Accountability Court, which summoned Deputy Chairman of the Senate Saleem Mandviwala on Feb 4 in connection with a case about alleged illegal allotment of plots.
Accountability judge Mohammad Bashir also summoned former managing director of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Aijaz Haroon in the same case.
NAB has filed the first-ever reference against Murad Ali Shah for “misuse of authority”. He is accused of using his influence and releasing funds for some power projects in violation of the rules.
The reference against the Sindh CM was filed by the NAB’s regional directorate of Rawalpindi. ....
