Black Harvard Professor Cornel West Denied Tenure Request; Threatens to Resign

Activist Cornel West is considering a departure from Harvard University after being denied a request for tenure.
The Boston Globe reported that West received a positive five-year review. But when West submitted a request for tenure, he was rejected. The university offered a pay raise instead.
According to West,  the school’s decision was “political” and was based on the perceived substance of his work. “What I’m told is it’s too risky… It’s too fraught. And I’m too controversial,” explained West.
