In June 2020, President Gregory Crawford created a task force charged with developing actionable recommendations in the areas of dialogue and allyship, cultural consciousness, advocacy and partnerships, structural and resource support, and inclusion and accountability. The 44 recommendations made by the DEI task force are now being implemented. Alongside these actions, Miami University created a fund, now at $1.25 million, to develop programs that create clear, measurable progress in building a more diverse, inclusive, and welcoming community. ....

Miami University to celebrate Class of 2020 and 2021 during in-person commencement ceremony next weekend
Nearly 4,800 degrees to be awarded and Dr. Carolyn Jefferson-Jenkins to speak
Miami University will celebrate the Class of 2021 and its 4,800 graduates during in-person commencement ceremonies at Yager Stadium (an outdoor venue), May 14-16, rain or shine. Miami is also holding an additional ceremony at 7 p.m. May 13 for its Class of 2020, whose in-person ceremony was canceled last year because of the pandemic. All ceremonies will be live-streamed for those unable to attend in person.
In alignment with State of Ohio capacity guidelines, Miami will host nine ceremonies (eight divisional and one for the Class of 2020) in which President Gregory Crawford will address the graduates and their guests. Ceremonies will also incorporate remarks from 2021 Commencement speaker Dr. Carolyn Jefferson-Jenkins and allow graduates in attendance to be individually recognized as the ....

President Joe Biden is nominating the executive director of Miami University s Myaamia Center to the National Council on the Humanities. Daryl Baldwin has been a driving force behind the center for decades and is a citizen of the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma.
