JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The city of Jacksonville began giving second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to the general public at two senior centers on Monday and the state is administering second shots at Prime Osborn Convention Center.
Between the three sites, about 2,000 people are expected to receive their second doses each day for the next couple of weeks. That’s nearly double the average number of people in Jacksonville who have been receiving their first dose in recent days because vaccine supplies are still limited.

The Florida Department of Health said Florida residents 65 and older and frontline healthcare workers can enter their information on that website and will be contacted when doses are available at state-run vaccination sites in their area. In Northeast Florida, the only site is currently at Regency Square in Jacksonville.
Residents who pre-register “will be contacted by phone call, text or email and will be assisted in scheduling an appointment,” the state said.
Jared Moskowitz, director of the Florida Division of Emergency Management, told state lawmakers this week that counties can pull names from the waiting list and contact residents when appointments become available.

Vaccine program is well run
A few days ago you in Another View had a very critical picture of the vaccine program at the Prime Osborn Convention Center. Have you or any of your staff participated in that particular program? I have! It is very well-run and efficient.  Being all by appointment, the lines move quickly and nobody waits in line for hours. Yes, appointments are difficult to get due to the large number of people. BUT, that is no reason for your paper to be so critical of a very important program and the people working there!
