ELDERLY residents and dementia patients will be able to exercise and relive memories thanks to high technology bikes at care homes and hospitals. A total of 12 Motiview bikes, licences and smart televisions have been purchased to support residents to be more physically and cognitively active across mid and south Essex. The pilot scheme is being used at Basildon Hospital, and a host of care homes across south Essex. The high technology exercise bikes which have video and sound, allow the users to take cycle trips through familiar surroundings and relive childhood memories. When not in use for cycling the Smart TV can be used for Zoom calls with family and friends as well as other activities. Health bosses say the benefits improve both physical and mental wellbeing, which is why they are piloting this initiative at a number of sites. ....
The proposed development at Cardigan Hospital PLANS for the proposed re-development of Cardigan s old hospital site have been revealed this week. Owners Wales and West Housing have pledged to bring low-carbon, eco-friendly housing for older people, offices, community facilities and public walk ways to the location. The plans include building new offices to the south, linking with the historic Priory House, and creating a regional base for both Wales and West Housing and its in-house maintenance company Cambria Maintenance Services. There will be a public walk way through the grounds and along the River Teifi. It proposes to demolish the high stone wall, known locally as the “prison wall” along the gateway at Pont-Y-Cleifion, and reuse stone on the lower boundary walls. ....

CARDIGAN’S historic Priory House will be the centrepiece of the proposed re-development of the town’s old hospital site, the Tivy-Side can reveal. The house was built in 1789 by celebrated architect John Nash, famous for designing Buckingham Palace and London’s Regent Street.
