New candidates revealed for relaunched RCN presidential election

The Royal College of Nursing has announced three new candidates who will be running to become its next president as part of a relaunched election process following controversy last year.
The college today confirmed that Denise Chaffer, Professor Rod Thomson and Maria Trewern will be standing for the post.

Ms Chaffer is currently the director of safety and learning at NHS Resolution and is both a registered nurse and midwife by background. Previously, she held roles as a director of education, a director of nursing in both acute hospitals and NHS commissioning and also worked as the national student adivsor at the RCN. ....

QC reviewing RCN election debacle makes final recommendations

These candidates were incumbent president Professor Anne Marie Rafferty and former chair of congress Stuart McKenzie.
Among his recommendations, Mr Cheetham told the RCN it should consider rewriting its 30-page election policy document for future elections to make it “clearer and more concise”.
