Jack and Colleen Erickson own Erickson Trucks-n-Parts, located at 4707 SE Frontage Road, just north of Highway 11 (Durand Avenue). Theyâre among the few property owners remaining in the area after the Village of Mount Pleasant cleared it to develop a tax incremental district specifically created to facilitate Foxconn in 2017 â back when promises of a massive factory that would employ upwards of 12,000 people was at least still being publicly considered and promoted.
Like other property owners who were relocated to make space for Foxconn, despite owning a business versus a home, the Ericksons were willing to consider an appropriate offer to move their business. ....

City looking for development ideas for historic Putnam building

Have an idea on what could be done with the former Putnam Funeral Home at the northeast corner of Four Corners Park in Coldwater?
City Manager Keith Baker said “The city is accepting development proposals for the building” now that the roof is underway.
Braman Roofing is doing the work and will warranty the asphalt shingles. It is also repairing the east side soffit and facia under its $41,180 contract as the only bidder.
The city bought the historic building for $1 to save it in a 5-4 council vote.
It may need more work. An asbestos and lead-based paint testing company has collected samples from throughout the building and it is awaiting the results. The city’s work is intended to keep the building from further deterioration after a serious roof leak was found. Parts of the roof stairs also had to be stabilized. ....

Following in the steps of other cities in the eastern United States, Newark has launched a land bank aimed at reducing blight and activating vacant and abandoned properties, writes Jared Brey in Next City. Managed by Invest Newark, the land bank is now accepting bids and proposals for around 100 vacant lots and buildings formerly under city ownership.
Generally managed by a non-profit or government agency, a land bank is designed to expedite the sale and redevelopment of vacant and blighted properties. BICKNELL, Ind. (WTHI) - A former Mayor of Bicknell, Indiana has passed away.
On Wednesday, current Mayor Thomas Estabrook posted Jon Flickinger passed away. Flickinger was the 23rd Mayor of Bicknell. He held the office from 2008-2016.
Estabrook wrote that Flickinger took the first steps for the Blight Elimination Program. That s in additional to neighbor revitalization, and improvements along city streets. Flickinger also helped obtained federal money for street signs. ....

WELCOME HOME: Homebuyer program celebrates latest project
For most homebuyers, the move to a new house is marked by the removal of a “for sale” sign and little fanfare. However, for first-time homebuyers Emmalee Mitchell and Daniel Bautista, their move was heralded by a ribbon cutting the celebration of a home more than a year in the making.
The house, located at 925 Eighth St., is the second home built as part of the Lincoln Central Neighborhood Homebuyer Program. Its completion was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house on Thursday.
Mitchell and Bautista expect to close the deal today, and Mitchell said they were excited to see the completed house. ....
