BHUBANESWAR: Voluntary organisations and individuals have extended helping hand to a dalit girl Loji Behera from Puri district after knowing that she is working as a labourer under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) project to fund her pending dues of a private engineering college in Khurda district.
Behera, a native of Chainpur village under Delang block in Puri district, has completed her diploma in civil engineering in 2019 from a private engineering college at Khurda. She could not bring her certificate after she failed to pay the pending dues. She not only faces problems to get a job but also fails to take admission in B Tech. ....

Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], January 19 (ANI): In a move to encourage employment opportunities, Uttarakhand Government has announced that the number of working days under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) will be increased from 100 to 150, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said on Monday.
While addressing the gathering at his office, Rawat said that government will increase the number of working days from 100 to 150 under MGNREGA and the entire cost will be borne by the state government.
This decision was taken during a meeting of the State Employment Guarantee Council held on Monday. ....
