Downtown Redding bike depot, café: Five things to know as work starts

Foundation and framing work on the $4.5 million bike depot, café and outdoor courtyard on the southwest corner of California and Shasta streets started this week.
The Bell Plaza project is the McConnell Foundation’s latest investment in downtown Redding.
The foundation also is partnering with K2 Development and the city of Redding on the $111 million Block 7, a mixed-used development of commercial, education, office and retail buildings on the former California Street parking garage property. The price tag also includes the street improvements and traffic circulation.
Work on Block 7 s first phase, a new, six-story parking garage started late last year.  ....
