A Buckeye is Headed to Tokyo!! Three are in the US Olympic Trial Finals

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Friday at the USA Wrestling Olympic Team Trials was a long day of wrestling, but it was a good day of wrestling for former Buckeyes Kollin Moore and Joey McKenna. Moore and McKenna are both set to appear in the Olympic Team Trial finals on Saturday, vying for a spot in this summer’s Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Moore is in the finals of the 97 kg weight class and waiting for him is the reigning Olympic champion and fellow Buckeye Kyle Snyder. That means Ohio State will have at least one Olympian this summer. McKenna will square-off with Jordan Oliver in the finals of the 65 kg class. The winner of that weight class will still have to qualify the weight for the Olympics at the World Olympic Qualifier in Sofia, Bulgaria, May 6-9. ....

GAINESVILLE, Fl. – Georgia Tech track & field opened up Florida Relays on Friday with multiple podium performances and national top marks to kick-off Week Three of the 2021 outdoor season at James G. Pressly Stadium. The Yellow Jackets lined up against host Florida, Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida State, Iowa State, Kentucky, Miami, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Southern California and Virginia Tech.

Historic Field Event Marks Propel Tigers at Florida Relays

GAINESVILLE, Fla. A pair of No. 8 all-time performances from Harleigh White and Danielle Sloley in the women’s triple jump and shot put, respectively, proved to be the highlights of Saturday’s action for the Clemson track and field program as the 2021 Florida Relays concluded this afternoon. In total, the Tigers had six top-five finishes during the final day of competition, including one event victory courtesy of Roje Stona in the men’s discus.
“[This weekend] gave our kids a good idea of what they can expect at the end of the season,” said Clemson’s Director of Track & Field, Mark Elliott. “There were a lot of teams at the meet that are ranked high nationally, and they are the competition we want to test ourselves against. I was excited that we got to do that.” ....

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech women’s basketball’s Lorela Cubaj and Lotta-Maj Lahtinen were named 2021 WBCA NCAA Division I Coaches’ All-America honorable mention as announced by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Saturday.
Cubaj, the ACC’s Co-Defensive Player of the Year, capped the 2020-21 season averaging a double-double behind 12.5 points and 11.5 rebounds per game. She started all 26 games for the Yellow Jackets, helping Tech reach the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16. The All-ACC first team selection by both the Blue Ribbon Panel and head coaches, Cubaj posted 14 double-doubles on the season to become the first Yellow Jacket since 1991-92 to record 14 or more double-doubles in a season. The Terni, Italy native recorded 17 double-figure rebounding games and 19 double-figure scoring outings. ....
