PHILADELPHIA, Penn. - The Clemson Tigers impressed in the first day of Penn Relays as Marie Forbes secured first-place in the women's hammer throw to be tabbed the event champion in Philadelphia. Forbes throw of 63.49 marked a new season best for the Tiger as she has continued to thrive this outdoor season. Going into the weekend, the mark would have been ranked No. 22 in the nation. Alongside Forbes, a few other Tigers on the women's side entered their names or improved their overall marks on Clemson's all-time list as the team will look to continue building of Thursday's success for the remainder of the weekend. Cocco, Stoilova Set Program Bests, Tigers Wrap-Up Second Day of Texas Relays

AUSTIN, Texas - The Clemson Tigers wrapped up the second day of Texas Relays as Aleksandra Stoilova set the new all-conditions school record in the women's 100 meter. With a wind-aided time of 11.15 (+2.5), Stoilova ran the fastest time in school history in the women's 100 meters. The sophomore now holds the all-conditions program record in the event. In the women's sprint medley, the Clemson team of Stoilova, Antoinette Van Der Merwe, Ken'Naria Gadson and Gladys Chepngetich were first to cross the line with a time of 3:44.40. Four Tigers qualified for the finals in their respective events as Clemson is set to be represented in the men's and women's 100 meters and 100 meter hurdles. With her record-setting time in the 100 meters, Stoilova advanced to Saturday's finals. On the men's side, Cameron Rose's wind-aided time of 10.15 earned him a spot in the finals in the 100 meters. In the women's 100 meter hurdles, both Van Der Merwe and Oneka Wilson earned qualifying marks for finals as Van Der Merwe secured the automatic-qualifier for finishing first in her heat. Both Tigers also added their names on Clemson's all-time list in the event as Van Der Merwe improved her No. 9 mark to 13.17 and Wilson secured the No. 10 spot with 13.20. Both times mark personal bests for the Tigers. The Tigers will prepare to compete in the final day of Texas Relays on Saturday, March 30 with the first event slated for 10 a.m with the women's discus. Chepngetich Named ACC Freshman of the Week

CLEMSON, S.C. - After her outstanding performances this past weekend, Gladys Chepngetich was named the ACC Women's Freshman Outdoor Performer of the Week as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.At the Knights Invitational in Orlando, the freshman was first to cross the line in the women's 800 meter as Chepngetich finished the event with a time of 2:01.70, which was a full six seconds faster than the second-place finisher. The time is currently ranked No. 1 in the nation for the women's 800 as the freshman leads the U.S. in the event.Chepngetich is one of three freshmen to lead the nation in a track event so far this outdoor season.In Orlando, the freshman also ran the final leg of the women's 4x400 relay for Clemson as the grouping of Makenzie Steele, Ken'Naria Gadson, Courtney Williams and Chepngetich recorded a first-place finish in the event with a time of 3:33.27. The time places them sixth in the nation in the event.Chepngetich has been remarkable in her first track and field season for the Tigers as she was most recently named the ACC Women's Indoor Track and Field Freshman of the Year following her impressive indoor season for Clemson.Up next, Chepngetich and the Tigers will head to Austin, Texas to compete in the 2024 Texas Relays starting on March 28. Women Finish Second, Men Finish Fourth in ACC Indoor Championships

BOSTON, Mass. - At the 2024 ACC Indoor Championships, the Clemson Tigers impressed on the men's and women's side as both groups finished in the top five. The women's group finished with 80.5 points to secure second place overall and the men finished in fourth place with 81 points. It was a great ACC Championships for both teams, we had some great individual champions, Track and Field Director Mark Elliot said. Now we turn our attentions to the NCAA Championships. With their second place finish, the Clemson women earned their highest indoor championship finish since 2017. Overall, the Tigers earned 16 medals across all events, including five gold medals. Earning two gold medals for Clemson was Cameron Rose, as he is the fourth Tiger in program history to win both events (men’s 60m and 200m) at the indoor championship. Some of the Tigers will be back in Boston, Mass. for the NCAA Championships with events starting on March 8. For the third time in his indoor college career, Tarees Rhoden secured the gold medal in the men's 800 meter as he crossed the line with a time 1:47.08, which marked a season best for him. Oneka Wilson recorded a first-place finish in the women's 60 meter hurdles as she crossed the line with a time 8.04 to become the defending champion in the event as she also secured the gold at the 2023 ACC Indoor Championships. Earning her second medal of the meet, Shantae Foreman took the gold in the women's triple jump as she jumped a new personal best of 13.68m to secure first place. The mark moves her to No. 2 on Clemson's all-time list. Antoinette Van Der Merwe impressed in the 60 meter hurdles as she secured a second-place finish with a time of 8.10, setting the new national record for South Africa in the indoor women's 60 meter hurdles. Van Der Merwe now moves into the No. 5 spot on Clemson's all-time list for her performance. The senior was also tabbed Second Team All-ACC after finishing fifth in the 200 meter. D'Andre Anderson secured two silver medals as he recorded second-place finishes in both the 400 meter (45.85) and the 200 meter (20.87). His performance in the 400 meter moves him to No. 2 on Clemson's all-time time list. In the men's shot put, Courtney Lawrence threw 19.03m to secure second-place in the event and earn the silver medal for Clemson Jevon Williams recorded a second-place finish in the men's 60 meter hurdles as he completed the event with a time of 7.84 to earn the silver medal. In the women's 400 meter, Ken'Naria Gadson tabbed a third-place finish to secure the bronze medal as she crossed the line with a time of 52.86, marking a new personal best. Gadson's time slides her into the No. 2 all-time spot for Clemson in that event. Aleksandra Stoilova earned the bronze medal in the women's 60 meter as she finished the event with a time of 7.32 to come in third place. Foreman Medals in Long Jump, Tigers Impress in Second Day of ACC Indoor Championship

BOSTON, Mass. - The Clemson Tigers shined in the second day of the ACC Indoor Championships as ten athletes secured their places in Saturday's finals and Shantae Foreman received the silver medal in the women's long jump. Foreman becomes the second Tiger to earn a silver medal for Clemson. Along with the medal and the second place finish, Foreman was also crowned First Team All-ACC as she becomes the second Tiger to earn the honor. Four athletes have earned All-ACC honors so far this week as Daniel Cope was named First Team while Marie Forbes and Nia Christie were tabbed Second Team All-ACC. Saturday's events begin at 11 a.m. with the men's triple jump as the first track event will begin at 12 p.m. with the men's mile. The day will end with the men's 4x400 relay at 3:35pm and the women's 4x400 relay at 4 p.m. Clemson will look to medal in all events and secure the ACC Championship title on both the men's and women's side. The meet will be broadcasted on ACCNX. Tigers Earn Six Weekly Awards Following First Meet of the Season

CLEMSON, S.C. – After opening the indoor season at home this past Friday at the Clemson Opener, six Tigers have earned ACC weekly honors as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.  On the men’s side, Cameron Rose, Daniel Cope and Blaik Slavinski all earned weekly awards for their individual events while Ken’Naria Gadson, Shantae Foreman and Kendra Dye all earned honors on the women’s side. The ACC will have six weekly awards for both track and field athletes, as the conference has introduced a pair of new awards this season for Male and Female Freshman of the Week. ACC Men’s Track Performer of the Week: Cameron RoseAt the Clemson Opener, Cameron Rose impressed in the 300 meter run as he was the first to cross the line with a time of 32.61, which was a new personal best for the senior. Rose also recorded a PB in the 60 meter prelims as he ran a 6.69. ACC Men’s Field Performer of the Week: Daniel CopeWith a mark of 21.31 in the weight throw, Daniel Cope won the event at the Clemson Opener as he began his junior season for the Tigers. Following his performance, Cope is ranked fourth in the nation in the weight throw. ACC Men’s Rookie of the Week: Blaik Slavinski In his first meet for the Tigers, freshman Blaik Slavinski shined in the 1000 meter run as he set the new program record for the event as he earned a first-place time of 2:20.52. Slavinski’s time is the fastest in the world for the 1000 meter so far this year. ACC Co-Women’s Track Performer of the Week: Ken’Naria Gadson With a dominating performance in the 600 meter run at the Clemson Opener, Ken’Naria Gadson completed the event at 1:29.05 as the senior was the first to cross the line to secure another first-place finish for the Tigers. Tigers Wrap Up Yellow Jacket Invitational With Relay Victories

ATLANTA -- The Clemson track and field program opened its 2023 outdoor season on Friday at the Yellow Jacket Invitational. Several Tigers earned victories in events to begin their seasons on the right foot. Competition at the Yellow Jacket Invitational will continue on Saturday at noon and conclude at 3:40 p.m. Antoinette Van der Merwe dominated the 100 meter hurdle field, winning the race with a time of 13.49 seconds, Second place was 13.77 seconds. Brynne Sumner won the 1500 meter race with a time of 4:27.34. Victor Ndiwa swept the race for the Tigers by running a 3:49.50. Maddie Dinneen took home the crown in her first collegiate steeplechase with a time of 10:51.43, while Madison Roush won the 5k with a time of 17:36.69. Courtney Farishian finished third (18:01.85).
