What’s believed to be a New Zealand-first mental health workshop’s literally took flight in Queenstown yesterday.
Connect and Care founder Mel Haarer launched a free pilot programme, Health and  Happiness, last November to help the Whakatipu community deal with the impacts of
Covid-19.
Since then, she’s put some serious thought into how best to continue that work.
‘‘My fear was that the wellbeing space here in Queenstown has become so highly competitive that it’s hard to secure a sustainable position moving forward in our small community, especially with businesses suffering so much and unable to invest ....

Writers' festival chance to raise awareness


You are only good as your word.
And Kakanui author Linda Collins’ words are good.
So good, Ms Collins has been invited to be a guest writer at the prestigious Auckland Writers’ Festival this weekend.
She is speaking alongside poet and general practitioner Glenn Colquhoun who penned
Letters to Young People, a collection of poetry addressed to the young people he cared for as a doctor.
At the festival, they will speak about improving the lives of young people by talking about and reading sections of their work.
Ms Collins will read from her new book of poetry,
Sign Language for the Death of Reason. The collection is a continuation of her memoir, ....
