National Cooperative Bank Originates Over $174 Million for New York Area Cooperatives and Condominiums in First Quarter of 2021

NEW YORK, NY - National Cooperative Bank (NCB), a leading lender to cooperative housing and condominiums throughout the Tri-State area, originated over $174 million to 58 New York area housing cooperatives and condominiums during the first quarter of 2021. Edward Howe III, Managing Director of NCB’s New York office, made the announcement.
In January, Mindy Goldstein, Senior Vice President financed a $2.4 million first mortgage and a $500,000 line of credit for Shore Lane Arms Owners Corp., a 97-unit co-op located at 9801 Shore Road in Brooklyn, NY. Transferring title and liability for irradiated fuel from the nuclear utilities that generated it to DOE would mean that federal taxpayers would have to pay many billions of dollars for so-called “interim” storage of the waste. Harvard Law School Professor Wendy B. Jacobs, Who Pursued Environmental Law to 'Make a Difference,' Dies at 64 | News

When Seema Kakade assumed her role as the director of the University of Marylandâs environmental law clinic, Wendy B. Jacobs welcomed her with open arms.
âShe specifically sought me out, welcomed me to the community of clinic directors, told me it was the best job in the world, told me it was an extremely hard job, and really challenging to battle priorities,â Kakade said. âI just really appreciated that, the welcoming of somebody new into a community exemplifies who she was.â
Jacobs, a professor at Harvard Law School and the founder and director of the Emmett Environmental Law and Policy Clinic, died on Feb. 1 after battling an illness. She was 64. ....

Beyond Nuclear has filed suit in federal court to prevent the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) from licensing a massive “consolidated interim storage facility” (CISF) for highly radioactive waste in Andrews County, West Texas.
In its Petition for Review filed in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, Beyond Nuclear asked the Court to dismiss the NRC licensing proceeding for a permit to build and operate a CISF proposed by Interim Storage Partners (ISP), a business consortium. ISP plans to use the facility to store 40,000 metric tons of highly radioactive irradiated fuel generated by nuclear reactors across the U.S., (also euphemistically known as “used” or “spent” fuel), amounting to nearly half of the nation’s current inventory. ....
