TAINAN, TAIWAN - Rights groups and activists at home and abroad Friday denounced China for barring a prominent Chinese democracy and rights activist from leaving for the United States to care for his cancer-stricken wife.
They called the action “inhuman” and said China is a “fascist” state because the activist, Guo Feixiong, is a free man and the communist government has no right to restrict his travel.
Guo launched a hunger strike Thursday to protest after he was stopped at the Shanghai airport.
“I now begin my hunger strike indefinitely at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport. The customs have officially barred me from leaving the country on suspicion of endangering national security. I urge all the Chinese people and governments around the world to help me,” Guo wrote in a short message to VOA Thursday night, saying that he was being seized by tw ....

DCJ warns failure to observe law will lead to nullification of poll

Speaking at a Uganda Law society symposium on election practices, Justice Buteera says elections must be conducted in accordance with the law which must be respected.
He has also called for observance of human rights by all relevant authorities insisting that there is life after elections.
Justice Buteera has meanwhile launched the society Elections Petition Law Report Volume one which complies petitions from 2001 to 2011 with a reminder that the Judiciary is necessary before, during and after Elections.
Uganda is currently experiencing significant human rights abuses by the army, police, and other government institutions.

The High Court today directed the government to display charts showing prices of tests for Covid-19 patients at main gates of all hospitals, clinics and diagnostic centres across the country in seven days.
According to the revised chart prepared by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Tk 500 has been fixed for CBC test, Tk 600 for CRP test, Tk 1,000 for LFT test, Tk 800 for S. Creatimr test, Tk 1,000 for S. Electrolgle test, Tk 1,500 for D.Dimer test, Tk 1,200 for S. Ferrition test, Tk 2,000 for S. Procalcitonin test, Tk 6,000 for CT Scan-Chest test, Tk 400 for Chst x-ray-Analogue and Tk 600 for Cht x-ray-Digigal tests. ....
